Ski Lesson

If you're looking for the ultimate skiing and snowboarding destination in Japan, look no further than Hakuba. Known as the winter sports capital of Japan, Hakuba was even the site of several events during the 1998 Nagano Olympics, including the men's and women's Downhill, Super Giant Slalom races, the Ski Jump, and the Nordic Combined Events.

LOCATION: Iimori Resort

Why Iimori resort?

- Iimori is described as the best terrain in Hakuba for learning and honing skiing and snowboarding skills, especially good for families and

beginners. It is suitable for lessons.

- The terrain is diverse: from wide groomed slopes for beginners, to steeps, moguls, and powder for more advanced skiers.

- Access is relatively easy: it's not remote, and you don’t need to drive through difficult mountain roads (also inter connected with Goryu and

Hakuba 47 ski areas, and one lift pass covers all three zones).  Parking and facilities are more accessible.

- There are many lifts: 2 gondolas, 4 high-speed quad chairs, 8 double chairs, and 2 magic carpet lifts.

Private Lesson transportation note:

- Pick ups: We usually pick up on the half hour, 30 minutes before the lesson start time, the travel time is not included in the lesson time. We will

only pick up from one location.

- Drop Offs: For drop offs, we will return you after the lessons finish. We will only drop off to one location. If you want to stay and do some more

riding or play around, we will not be able to do the drop off.

- The vehicles will pick you up at a set time and/drop you off after lessons according to the policies. There will be no detours, super market runs,

convenience store stops or any other dalliances.

- Our Hakuba village pick up and drop off area includes Goryu, Echoland, Happo, Wadano, Iwatake and Sierra.

Private lesson note:

- Private lessons are limited to a maximum of 5 people per group. For more participants another instructor would have to be arranged.

- Lesson prices do not include lift tickets or equipment rentals.

- For full days privates, lunch and/or supervision is not included but can be arranged for an extra fee. Please ask us when booking if you would

   like this option.

- Private lessons will begin when the first lifts in Hakuba Valley and open until the 30th of April 2026. After Iimori closes we will only be running

half and full day privates till the end of April.

- Children and adults learn at different speeds, and in different ways. We do always recommend children and adults take separate lessons if

possible if you want everyone to learn the most.

- Skiing and snowboarding are different sports so cannot attend lessons together and would require separate lessons.

- Different ability levels can attend the same lessons. However, not if you want everyone to get the most out of the lesson. Private lessons can

accommodate mixed ability levels, with instruction tailored to the least experienced participant.

Lesson for children age 1 and 2 are not available.

   Minimum age: 3.

However, the resort does offer day care options for these young ones, so you can still enjoy your time on the slopes while they are being taken

    care of by trained professionals.

- Children lesson policy:

** For children aged 3 and 4, we do offer private ski lessons that are one-on-one with an instructor. These lessons typically last for 2 hours to

begin with, and we will assess their progress to see if we can extend the duration of the lessons.

** For those who do well in private lessons, we may be able to put them in our regular group lessons. But for this, they must meet certain

      criteria:

      1. Firstly, they must want to join the lesson and not be pressured into it. They must also be able to cope in a group environment where

they will not receive continuous individual attention.

      2. They need to be able to last a 2-hour duration without flagging or objecting.

      3. Lastly, they must be able to ski down a beginner run while controlling their speed and stopping on request without assistance from

the instructor (using a kid’s magic carpet does not count for this).

For 4-hours group lesson: 2 hours morning - 1 hour lunch break - 2 hours afternoon

Group lesson note:

- Group lessons are divided into 5 levels for both skiers and snowboarders.

- Kids ski group lessons are for ages 5-12, while snowboard lessons are for ages 7-12. Children aged 13 and above join adult group lessons.
